Wow. Where do I begin with this wedding. The first word that comes to mind is UNIQUE. Bridget and Josh, your wedding was by far one of the most unique and stunning days I’ve EVER been a part of. Leave it to Bridget and Josh to make the day their own in the most special little ways!!! ALSO, in light of COVID, they made their dream day WORK OUT!
These two originally planned their wedding to be at the Lumbar Exchange in Minneapolis. With the ever changing covid regulations, they made the difficult decision to change their venue. Obviously it’s a tough call to go a year planning your wedding at one spot then having to re-envision it elsewhere but when they changed their venue to Blacksmith Main and low-key ECSTATIC because 1. That venue was on my bucket list and 2. I instantly knew that with their wedding vision, color palettes, and just their vibe, this venue would be PERFECT. I 10000% believe in “everything happens for a reason” and Bridget and Josh were on the same page because on their wedding day they were raving about how happy they were that everything panned out the way that it did. They were SO happy from the start to the end of the day.
Before I talk more about their wedding day, I want to talk about Bridget and Josh as people. If I had to describe them in two words, it would be LOVING and INTENTIONAL. I’ll never forget our pre-booking consult. We sat at Caribou talking for almost 2 hours. I always share how befriending my friends is a key part of what I value in my business and the overall phographer-client relationship. Right off the bat I felt friends with these two. I swear we could’ve hung out at that Caribou for days hahah. Every time I talked to Bridget after that, she made me feel like a friend and not just their photographer. I cannot express how much this meant to me. These two also went out of their way to gift their vendors a little something thoughtful on their wedding day. Like WHAT! They got me the CUTEST “S” necklace and LET ME TELL YOU — I have worn that necklace to EVERY WEDDING since. It’s like my wedding “good luck charm.” Thank you thank you thank you. One thing I thought was incredible unique from their wedding day was they made their own personal + intentional twist on the traditional ‘grand march.’ Rather than introducing their wedding party as “Best Man Jack and Maid of Honor Jill,” they shared a little blurb following their introductions about how they know them/why they are special to them/why they are a part of their wedding party. Again, SO LOVING AND INTENTIONAL.
Okay now that I’m done hyping up Bridget and Josh as my favorite people ever, let me talk about their wedding. ICONIC. Simply iconic. Bridget had a jaw-dropping Alexandra Grecco dress and it was so ‘her.’ She looked like a QUEEN. I can’t even recall how many people messaged me about the bridesmaids’ robes, dresses, and the groom’s suit. Too many to recall. Everything about their wedding day was one-of-a-kind and I know that was Bridget’s vision and it really came to life. We also got #blessed with a stunning fall day so everything came together perfectly. I was feeling extraaaaa creative with this crew of humans + their venue and explored some new poses/prompts. At one point I screamed “BENCHES! … oh we’re sooooo gonna do something with those” *cue dope group photo at the benches* Oh the guys are golfers? *cue a cool golf-inspired groomsmen shot*
Okay back to Bridget and Josh and how beautiful their love is. One last bit I want to share — these two were on cloud 9 ALL DAY LONG. When their first look came around, Josh was all giddy like a little kid. Meanwhile I’m behind the camera crying from how adorable their first look was. GAHHHH. I always hype up golden hour photos and how special that block of time (WHETHER OR NOT YOU HAVE A SUN SETTING). Bridget and Josh’s golden hour photos are a good example: they did not have a sunset but we still did ‘golden hour photos’ and those photos are ALL OF OUR FAVS. This is because by the time golden hour rolls around, it’s later in the evening and you’re ~officially married~ and everyone’s all carefree and living up the married life. EXHIBIT A, B, C, D *peep their pics* they’re so blissful. I love how goofy Josh got towards the end. How I would describe him is truly a kid at heart just so in love with his Bride.
Okay, ONE MORE THING. Can we give it up for Blacksmith Main? *CLAPS* This venue is GORGEOUS. A unique space with a mix of industrial and organic vibes. I was living it up shooting in all their spaces. I’m already looking forward to my future weddings here! Also *claps* for my amazing vendor friend, Ashley Skeie, for another wedding worth of incredible work. Ashley is one of my go-to planner + florist recommendations. Her work speaks for itself. In 2020 we had 4 weddings together. In 2021 we have like 9 together?! My favorite weddings are when she’s involved!!!! <3
