Indian American Nicollet Island Pavilion Wedding

One thing I’d like for any client (or future client) of mine to know is that I LOVE, simply LOVE, to document as many memories/milestones possible for you. I have been through the ~trifecta~ with Alanna and Josh: proposal, engagement, and wedding. Every part of that trifecta has had its own unique and memorable experience.

I got connected with Josh to document his proposal vision through his sister, Jesna, who was a college classmate of mine. Josh popped the question on a spring day while kayaking on Lake Calhoun. Both of their families were also present to witness this moment and celebrate them. Shortly after their proposal, Alanna and Josh moved to California ☀️ Talk about BIG things happening, and all at once! A few months later, I was so pumped to get an inquiry from Alanna for their wedding and they wanted to fly me out to California to document their engagement. BRB doing my happy dance!!!! ✈️ Destination weddings are one of my favvvvv things but what I LOVE even MORE than a destination wedding is a destination ENGAGEMENT SHOOT simply because it’s literally like an ultimate bonding session for me and my couples!!!!!! + an adventure + DOPE pics so like… it’s an all-round win win win win win for everyone :’))

I love that Alanna and Josh wanted to do their engagement session out in California. It’s such a unique time in their life, it was only fitting to have it documented accordingly!  When I arrived, these two took me to their favorite milkshake shop. I LOVED IT WHY DON’T WE HAVE COOL SHAKE SHOPS IN MN?!! It was so nice to just catch up since it had been months since their proposal. Now the next day we explored EVERYWHERE for this shoot. We went to places that Alanna and Josh had adventured to together as well as places on my bucket list that came as suggestions from Cali photographer friends. We really went all out for this shoot and the photos were just gloriousssss. Oh and we ended the shoot basically jumping into the ocean (all of us… me included lol).  There was only one way to celebrate such a fantastic day…. BOBA!!! I never thought I’d be so obsessed with boba tea but hey Josh and I could relate on a spiritual level with that one… and we were #committed as we drove all around town trying to find an open Boba shop on Wednesday night at 10 pm lol.

ALANNA AND JOSH’S WEDDING DAY… a long-awaited day. Let me just say it was SO COOL to see how they mixed their two cultures – American and Indian – into various aspects of their wedding day from attire and details to ceremony and reception. I was really looking forward to how they would go about this and all day long I was just in awe. When Alanna texted me about her vision for what the bridesmaids would wear,  it sounded neat and all but being the visual person I am, I had to see it in person to really get the picture. When the day came, I was drooooooling over the bridesmaid’s dresses but my jaw truly hit the floor seeing Alanna and Josh’s outfit change into their traditional Indian attire.  WOAH WOAH WOAH.  I actually think everyone’s jaw dropped on that one. Seeing how you seamlessly incorporated Indian and American culture into your wedding ceremony and reception through traditions, words, music, dances, etc, was iconic and stunning! Thank you for trusting me throughout your proposal, engagement, and wedding. I simply cannot wait to document more memories for you two down the road.
