Ivory North Minnesota Wedding

Prior to booking a couple for their wedding, I do an e-consult to get to know my prospective clients. I find this sooooo valuable for both parties since personality and making sure you vibe with each other is a significant part of the photo experience (I mean, if you think about it, you’re hanging with your photographer more than your fiancé on your wedding day LOL… you gotta make sure you can see yourself as friends!). Now I got to meet with Lexi (we talked forever, we TOTALLY VIBED) but unfortunately, last minute, Kevin couldn’t join the e-consult. I was bummed since that meant I wouldn’t get to meet Kevin until… their actual wedding day. Normally, my couples have an engagement session booked so that should’ve been an opportunity to meet with Kevin at least once before their wedding but that wasn’t the case since Lexi and Kevin because they lived in Florida and had photos done there. But, I wasn’t worried in the slightest. Now that feeling was validated the second I met (technically introduced, lol) myself to Kevin on his wedding day. He treated me with so much kindness and warmth that it seriously felt like I knew the man forever!!!! Funny enough, that’s totally how I felt when I first met Lexi for our e-consult. It felt like I was catching up with a friend and not meeting someone for the first time. At that moment I was like WOAH… these two have the exact same energy to them.

Now, mind you, Lexi and Kevin’s first look on their wedding day was the first time I would have ever seen these two TOGETHER… crazy right?! Again, normally that’s not the case since I do engagement sessions with my couples but this entire day was such a cool and different experience for me as a photographer. YALLL. WHEN I TELL YOU THESE TWO LIT UP WHEN THEY SAW EACH OTHER I AM NOT KIDDING. IT WAS RADIATING. IT WAS BEAUTIFUL. ON ALLLLLL ENDS. Wowowow. Also, let’s rewind for a second… Lexi was a VISION on her wedding day. She looked like a dream fairytale bride you would see pinned all over Pinterest. Doing portraits of these two was a breeze. Their chemistry made the images what they were and they are without a doubt some of the most good-looking people around. My camera was very happy ;)

Their ceremony was one of the most intentional and God-centered ceremonies I have ever experienced. Following their precessional, they had a time of worship and the room was filled with such a presence of God. I had goosebumps. Don’t get me started on Lexi and Kevin’s vows. Wow. When I tell you their words came from their heart, from the bottom of their soul, even that is an understatement. The words they spoke to one another, the promises they made to each other, left me teary-eyed and thinking “wow, I hope everyone finds their Lexi/Kevin.”

It was so evident how special Lexi and Kevin’s family and friends were to them. I felt that by simply following them on social media. Lexis’ nieces and nephews loved Uncle Kevin. As a photographer, I find it sooooo SO important to get to know your couple because that helps YOU better serve them on the biggest day of their life. Going into their wedding day, I prioritized getting as many candid moments of their family and friends as I could. I even suggested and snagged a fun big group photo of their wedding party + immediate family on the steps of their ceremony venue. Aside from their JUICY, INCREDIBLE, AMAZEBALLS golden hour photo sesh, that big group photo is honestly one of my FAVORITE photos from their day!!!!! When it came to their wedding party, you could tell they were one big, tight-knit group, mixed with family, high school friends, college friends…oh and imagine your best friend becoming your SISTER IN LAW… yep. They had one close, hype, fun, awesome group surrounding them.

To put it simply, this was such a magical and glorious day that I was sad to say goodbye and part ways at the end of the night. YEP. I love my job and the amazing couples like Lexi and Kevin that I get to serve!!!!
